Big news VERY big news. Canon has announced that they will release a firmware upgrade for the Canon EOS 5D Mark II 2 June 2009. The big thing is that as the headline says it will ad manuel video controls to the camera.

The firmware update will add the following:

  • Full control over aperture
  • Control over iso: 100-6400 + H1 and auto iso
  • Control over shutter speed going from 1/30 – 1/4000 sec.

This will the owners of the camera a huge jump in control over the video functions. The camera already deliver a very high quality video. Manuel control will make it a lot easier to get the results we want.

Now Canon just needs to add 24fps video and control over the audio gain, and we will have some very great possibilities with video.
