Well today is the day. Canon is releasing info on the Canon EOS 7D today. The camera will be the first in a new product line. It will find it’s place in between the Canon EOS 50D and the Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
Well I will skip forward to what you all want, the specs 🙂
Canon EOS 7D specifications:
- 18MP APS-C CMOS Sensor (1.6x crop)
- 8fps – 126 jpg files
- ISO 100-6400 expendable to 12800
- 100% viewer coverage
- 19 crosstype AF points with spot AF
- iFCL light metering – 63 zone dual layer sensor
- Dual Digic 4
- Full HD video – 24, 25 and 30fps selection
- 3″ Clear View II LCD 920.000 dots
- Wireless flash control
- Environmental sealing
Hmm.. Sound tempting, especially looking at it’s price (with $1000 cheaper than 5d Mark II). I think this camera will be a success.
The only thing I’m not sure about is the 1.6 crop factor.
Still, personally, I prefer 5d Mk II.
I agree depending on what you photograph this looks like a very nice camera.
I prefer the full frame sensor on the 5D Mark II as well for portrait and studio work. But I can see the use of the 8fps and the new autofocus when doing sports.
I might get one as a supplement to the 5d2.
7D seems like it is packed with more features than the 5D MKii. now i am having a hard time choosing which one to buy.
Look at what you are photographing that way you should be able to select one.
If you mostly do action and sports when you go with the 7D no questions asked. If you do fashion and portraits I would go with the 5D2. If you do landscapes again 5D2 must be the camera of choice.
